About Coach

Like many kids, Ray loved playing Street Fighter II. But his favorite character wasn’t any of the protagonists like Ryu or Ken but the one-eyed Thai fighter, Sagat. This towering, scarred character’s imposing look and powerful moves inspired Ray to discover Muay Thai for himself. In 2011, while working in advertising, Ray was looking for a more interesting way to get fit and lose some weight. Remembering Sagat, he researched New York Muay Thai gyms and discovered Five Points Academy. Ray found he loved the physicality of Muay Thai, and the more he learned, the more he wanted to improve. So naturally, he got into training kettlebell. With its explosive nature, built-in cardio, and full-body workout, it complements perfectly with Muay Thai. From 2014 to 2020, Ray competed locally as an amateur and had fifteen fights. In 2019, he started teaching, first kettlebell and then Muay Thai. As an instructor, Ray enjoys seeing his students getting stronger, learning, and achieving their personal goals, but mostly he loves seeing them enjoy Muay Thai. Ray loves to cook for fun, is interested in data modeling, and collects Marvel action figures.
