Kevin always had a keen interest in strength training and exercise. After defending a friend from a bully, he dedicated himself to it to learn more, build confidence, and become fitter and more capable. When Kevin realized he could have a career doing something he enjoyed, he got himself a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Montclair State University. He started by doing personal training at a small Manhattan fitness company in 1990, and some of these clients still train with him today. In 1992, he discovered Judo under Sensei Shiro Oishi. Kevin found Judo stimulating both physically and mentally, a life skill that challenges both the brain and body. Now a long-time judoka, Kevin has earned the rank of second-degree black belt, Nidan, by the USA Judo Federation. Kevin loves watching people get excited about fitness and Judo, especially when he sees how they have made it a part of their everyday lives. He prides himself on his responsibility to his students and ensuring they gain their rank enhancements safely. At Five Points, Kevin has fostered a great Judo community, always bringing in guest instructors and friends to help increase his students' knowledge and technique. When he’s not on the mat, Kevin loves building wooden tables and benches and is an avid fly fisherman.
