Elvin is passionate about martial arts. He trains in Kenjutsu and Kendo, has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and a black belt in Taekwondo. But even with all that experience, he feels Judo is one of the most challenging things he’s ever done. And while he’s been at it since 2014, Elvin feels that he’s barely scratched the surface and that there is always more to learn and improve upon. A perpetual student, his mindset sees him constantly coming back to get more knowledge, experience, and training. In October 2021, Elvin received his black belt from Sensei Kevin McGrath, and in 2023, he started teaching Judo at Five Points. As an instructor, watching the students progress is Elvin’s greatest reward, and he is committed to helping everyone advance. In his day-to-day job as an IT professional, Elvin understands complexity. And as complex as Judo can be, he tries to find creative and interesting ways to distill and convey all the technical details so that it can be easily absorbed by his students. Elvin's other passions include playing guitar and doing street photography, encountering all the wonderful things only New York can offer and capturing it with his camera.
