About Coach

Annette started teaching kettlebells after she received her SFG1 certification in December 2023, beginning with one-on-one lessons and then with classes. She loves teaching in general, as that has been her primary job for over two decades – currently as a professor of ancient religions at Harvard. While her day means she spends too much time sitting, thinking, and in her own head, the intensively embodied learning of both Muay Thai and kettlebell have been an oasis. Both relaxing and rewarding, she can imagine no better setting than the diverse, supportive, and committed community at Five Points. Thanks to kettlebell, Annette managed to come back from a dislocated shoulder and train Muay Thai well into her 50s – even fighting competitively, winning her age and weight division at the 2023 Thai Boxing Association North American tournament, and repeating in 2025. She has taken that personal experience and channeled it into teaching the steps to strength to her students as a StrongFirst Certified Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor. Annette is always excited to give back some of what she has learned, especially with an eye to strength and longevity.
